Where Faith And Learning Take Root

At The Learning Grove, we believe education should be faith-filled, hands-on, and deeply connected to the world around us. As a home education learning program, we provide a unique, nature-inspired approach that nurtures both the mind and spirit.

Rooted in curiosity and guided by truth, The Learning Grove creates a space where children can grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Through engaging lessons, outdoor exploration, and meaningful community, students are encouraged to discover their God-given gifts while developing a lifelong love of learning. We’re passionate about cultivating not just knowledge, but character, confidence, and a strong foundation of faith.

Faith-Centered Learning

At The Learning Grove, everything we do is rooted in faith. We intentionally weave biblical truth into daily learning, helping students grow in their relationship with God while developing a strong moral foundation that guides both their education and everyday life.

Hands-On, Nature-Inspired Education

We believe children learn best by doing. Through interactive lessons, outdoor exploration, and real-world experiences, students are encouraged to engage their curiosity, think creatively, and develop a genuine love for learning.

Individual Growth & Community Connection

With small class sizes and a supportive environment, each child is seen, known, and encouraged to grow at their own pace. At the same time, we foster meaningful relationships and a strong sense of community, helping students build confidence, character, and lasting connections..

Malia Torres

Director & K-5
Malia Torres is a mom of three, educator, and co-founder of The Learning Grove.

After nearly 10 years in the public school system, the Lord began stirring her heart in a new direction and she stepped into homeschooling, trusting Him one step at a time, and He faithfully opened the door for The Learning Grove to begin at New Church. What started as a small step of obedience has grown into something more beautiful than I could have imagined.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Florida teaching certificate. Teaching has always been part of who she is, but her faith is the foundation of her life. It guides her on how she leads, how she teaches, and how she loves the children and families God brings through our doors.

"This school was built in faith.
It is sustained by prayer.
And it exists for one purpose — to glorify God and raise up the next generation with courage, wisdom, and love."

Heather Hazzard

Director & K-5
Heather Hazzard had the pleasure of co-founding The Learning Grove with Malia Torres. She has trusted God through this journey, knowing educating a child is more than lessons, worksheets, and tests.

She was originally born and raised on a
ranch in Texas.  She  lived and served children in California, Virginia, Washington, and Florida.  She is  a wife of 21 years to a Coast Guard Chief and their son is in the United States Air Force.

She approachs the classroom with eleven years of experience in the public and private education system fulfilling various roles, a bachelor's degree in leadership studies from Regent University, eight years on various community executive boards, four years director experience, counselor training, and a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God.

"However, it is not about our ability but God's sovereignty.  He has blessed us with a way to help children learn in a loving, faith-filled environment."

Jacob Thompson

Middle School Facilitator
Jacob is 24 years old and has a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Leadership.
He is also currently in pursuit of his Masters Degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling at SEU.

He has been residing in GA for the past three years while at school. Throughout his higher education journey, he has wondered what his next steps might look like and God led him to a place of openness.

God has now opened this door to the next step of his life which will be here at The Learning Grove.

He is all about intentional moments and I love getting quality time with his people. He is  so excited to be a part of what God is doing here!
